I've heard seasonal colon cleansing is healthy – can you use magnesium citrate to do it?

You have heard wrong. There are no health benefits to colon cleansing, though MgCitrate is certainly an effective way at purging your bowels. It is used as a prep before surgery for that reason.
That will clean you out for sure….however, the recent guidelines for its use have been changed. Seems there is some risk of long term kidney damage that might not show up for years after you use it…
I would just take some metamucil (or other fiber supplement) on a daily basis – as long as you don’t have a reason not – and don’t take it with medications….
Fiber sweeps the walls of the intestines very effectively, as well as adds bulk to the stool – helping it pass.
