Maybe. I prefer to do it the natural way… by eating lots of vegetables. The fiber in the veggies "sponges" out the intestines as it travels through. In addition, you get a truckload of nutrients in the process… something you don’t get with the pills. Yes, colon cleansing can cause significant weightloss… I’ve heard as much as 10 pounds. Eating less meat and dairy and more veggies will accomplish the same thing and your body won’t suffer from lack of nutrition.
Colon cleansing does generally help people lose weight for two reasons.
1. They eliminate backed up mucus and fecal matter lining the intestines.
2. Because the colon has been cleansed, the body is able to process food more efficiently.
It isn’t really a "solution" to weight gain though. You really need to make an overall change in diet and exercise to lose weight effectively. Colon cleansing does help a bit, but it is more geared toward helping your overall long term health.
I actually use a powdered colon cleanse (Herbal Fiberblend) rather than pill form. If you do have "issues" in the bowel, the powdered form is much more effective because the capsules do not have to be broken down and the herbs and fiber can be more efficiently activated.

Cleaning the colon removes bacteria that may be in the intestines.
If you eat a high fiber diet and drink plenty of water, your colon will cleanse itself. It’s normal to have bacteria in the colon.
