Why are people so susceptible to scams like colon cleansing and homeopathy?

Because people dont want to do any work, most are all lazy and think if they cleanse their colon they will somehow be healthier instead of eating well and exercising. They want a quick fix.
although I am sceptical of cleanses, homeopathy can and does work in conjunction with regular health care.
Why are you bothering to ask this?
What’s the point?
Are you just trying to generate negative attention?
If so, why not just be honest with your question and say it upfront "Why are you people so stupid?"
How are you being any different from the hundreds of atheists who go on the christistrian forums and say "How could you possibly believe in God?"
It has no actual purpose except to harass people.
I’ll try some questions for you.
1) Why do people believe the garbage posted on quackwatch?
In cross examination, the owner of the site has admitted taking money from the AMA to promote their business, the guy who refutes most of the alternative medicine claims isn’t even trained to be a normal doctor yet alone comment on methods he doesn’t understand, and he regularly lies and uses fallacious arguments to prove his case.
2) Why do you think anyone who’s seen firsthand proof homeopathy can be superior to allopathy is going to change their opinion because you made fun of them for being an idiot? Most of the people here are here because they know the stuff works and they want specific details on what to do in certain cases. It’s not an audience seeking to have "the falsehood of alternative medicine proved to them." At least spam somewhere where there’s an audience.
3) Why are you lumping colon cleansing with homeopathy? The criticisms of each are completely different, and scientific models have been established which can prove how colon cleansing works (the lack of which is why homeopathy is attacked more often). Why not add "and engage in aerobic exercise" to the list as well. Some doctors and medical professionals still sincerely believe that’s bad and useless for you to.
4) Why do you feel the need to persecute and attack those with opposing viewpoints from your own?
5) In the future could you get sources which at least appear believable? This was the first sentance from the second one after quackwatch
"You can hardly turn on the television without being bomabarded with informercials for "natural" colon cleansers."
6) Do you have any interest whatsoever in having a logical reasoned debate on this or do you simply just wish to harass people on here?
perhaps because the more they learn about western medicine the more they understand it is primarily a money making machine (pharmaceutical industry). more than 200,000 people die in hospitals each year because of medication errors. prior poster, Alex, said it better
Only about 5% of medical treatments can meet the standard of proof demanded by those sites.
Just so you know.
It’s probably brainwashing. Just like the brainwashing I got from doctors, nutritionists, and dietitians about caring for my diabetes. Thanks to alternatives, I no longer have to take prescription drugs and feel great. Imagine. Must be the placebo effect as near as I can figure.
Why are people so susceptible to "quackwatch" – a known, highly biased, pseudo-scientific ’scam’?
